The Winchester Design 1895 has the distinction of currently being the initial Winchester lever-motion rifle to load from an internal box journal in place of from an inside tube journal beneath the barrel. This allowed the Model 1895 to become chambered for military cartridges with spitzer (pointed) projectiles, and the rifle was used through the ar
